06Living in fear is a terrible way to live. All of us have our own battles and reasons behind living a fearful life. I’ve been there, I know the struggle and what it’s like to live in fear.
What is Fear?
Fear is different for everyone, it’s an unpleasant emotion or feeling believing that something or someone is dangerous. Most people fear certain situations that make them worry and feel unsafe.
Fear is not always a bad thing, for instance, fear can protect us by avoiding something dangerous, fear can keep us safe. But this is not the kind of fear I am writing about. I am talking about the kind of fear that occupies your thought and prevents you from enjoying and living your life. The type of fear that is constantly putting you down, that grips your mind and causes anxiety and depression.
What Causes Fear?
There are different factors that cause us to fear. It could be a traumatic childhood memory of your past lifestyle, for me, it was worrying that would cause fear inside me. As a mom and wanting best for my family, I would constantly worry about the future, and all this worrying prevented me from truly living my best life. Instead of realizing how blessed my life is, I would constantly worry about my kids, about their future, health, and safety. Worry happens when we can’t control something, worrying leads to anxiety and despair.
How To Overcome Fear?
Our brain tends to focus on the negative experiences, train your mind to focus on the positive things in life, don’t label yourself as a fearless person. Set your eyes on the cross and give all your problems and fears to Jesus.
Be strong and courageous, don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you, he will not leave you’re or abandon you” Deuteronomy 31 6-8.
What you feed grows, and what you starve dies. If you find yourself spending more time watching the news and it brings you anxiety, its probably a good idea to turn off the news so you don’t feed your fear.
Imagine the kind of love God has for us that He sent His Own Son to dies for us. He created us out of dirt, we are not worthy of his Love and yet He sent his own Son to die for our sins so that we may not perish. Now that is how I know and trust that He will deliver me and anyone who believes in Him from any fears that I may have.
I’ve been a Christian all my life, but not until recently God revealed to me that He does not want religion He wants and longs relationship with us. And to me being a Christian is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. On my own I struggled with overcoming fear, always worrying, and having those fearful negative thoughts on the back of my head and when I truly submitted under Gods authority and released my fears and worrying unto His hands, that is when I gained back my freedom and all the fear that I suffered with, was no longer preventing me from living my life.
I love this scripture from Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understandings, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
When Jesus rose on the third day and didn’t ascend yet to His Father, He saw troubled Mary crying in the empty tomb and He tended to her needs first. Jesus could have revealed Himself to anyone, but He chose to comfort Mary instead. I find such comfort in that story and it tells how much He truly loves and cares for us.
In Mathew 6:25 Jesus tells us Not to worry about what we will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26. Consider the birds in the sky, They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, and yet our heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they are?
Verse 33. But seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
If you are struggling today with any kind of addiction, fear or depression, give it all to Jesus. Turn to scripture and studying the word, Live for the Glory of God and not earthly things. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love and sound judgment. (Timothy 2 1:7) God is greater than your fear, He loves you and wants progression and growth for you.
The biggest fear for me is eternal separation from God, but knowing that I am saved by His Love and Grace, what is there to fear? When you give your life to Jesus, he has the power to restore you and help you overcome your fear. You will find that true joy is found in Jesus Christ

Fear stems from overthinking and overthinking stems from ruination (and rumination). Most people who fear something are reluctant because they fear there will be no reward as a result of the risk involved. This is a great blog post and I agree with what you said.
Beautiful post! Thank you!
